GOAL: Develop and experimentally validate novel multi-AUV coverage algorithms that can handle currents and faults in the missions.
During REP(MUS)19 exercise, the second UPORTO TNA access took place at UPORTO Atlantic Testbed from the 16th to the 27th of September, in PAN Tróia (Portugal).
The aim of the project AUVCover, carried out by the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi, was multi-robot coverage algorithms. The focus being the development of a fault tolerant multi-robot area coverage algorithm, which takes the current information into account (adaptive orientation), while performing sonar imaging of the desired objects in the seabed.
For this, access to 3 LAUVs equipped with sidescan sonars was necessary. This TNA was reallocated from UPORTO-Local to UPORTO Atlantic installation since it provides more currents and thus constitutes a better test site for the end-user purposes.
However, the goals weren’t completely fulfilled, and more sets of field trials were ran this time in the UPORTO-Local installation, in December.
